Limited edition import-only two disc (CD + PAL/Region
2 DVD) pressing of their 2006 release featuring four
bonus tracks (remixes of 'Big City Life', 'To & Fro'
and 'Cool Down The Pace' and an acoustic version of
'Big City Life) plus a bonus DVD that includes four
video clips, three live performances, a documentary
and an interview with the band! This, their debut
album, is jam packed with gorgeous little gems of pop
consciousness. All the tracks on Signs Of A Struggle
were written and produced by Mattafix with additional
production and mixing by Jim Abyss
(Kasabian/UNKLE/Placebo), Craig Silvy (Magic
Numbers/The Coral), Steve Dubb and Seggs (Roots
Manuva/Chemical Brothers) and Johnny Dollar (Neneh
Cherry, Massive Attack). The albums many highlights
include the Lovers Rock anthem and opening track,
'Gangster Blues', featuring Robbie Shakespeare of the
legendary Sly and Robbie on bass and the beautifully
euphoric 'Passer By', guaranteed to lighten the
darkest of moods. 'To and Fro' is a quirky, upbeat
number but whose dark lyrics tell a tale of betrayal,
featuring ex Sugarbabe Siobhan Donaghy on backing
vocals, while the highly emotive 'Everyone Around
You' has beats, strings and Marlon's instrument of
choice, the steel pans all in the mix. From the
dreamy simplicity of 'Clear And Present Danger' to
the broodingly hypnotic 'I To You', the songs on this
album highlight the musical range and depth of this
young and incredibly talented UK band.

Release Notes:

"...an exceptional songwriting talent, and a voice
that's at once quintessentially feminine and
simultaneously as metal-edged as a blues-playing
tenor saxophone... Simone excels at drawing out the
emotional underpinnings of a phrase, digging into
each syllable and sibilance with a horn player's
eloquence..." --livingromcom.typepad.com--

"Simone White's indie-folk quasi-protest song,
"American War," is witty, provocative, and effective
without being angry or disillusioned." --Billboard--

"Simone White's voice, mournful and lullaby-hushed
over soft acoustic guitars- is reminiscent of Belle
and Sebastian's Isobel Campbell." --Time Out New
York--

"...Simone White's haunting voice and acoustic
guitar." --WNBC--

"A late-night melancholy gem." --Bucketfull of
Brains--

"... a delicate, breathy voice reminiscent of Ivy's
Dominique Durand or even Astrud Gilberto; she favors
moody, acoustic arrangements with brushed drums and
upright bass." --News Day--

"Simone White delicately lays her beautiful voice
over rich layers of swirling rhythm and crafty
guitar patterns. This record is deep with emotion,
rich with integrity and bubbles with bittersweet
excitement that will soothe the soul and relax the
nerves." --pulseweekly.com--

"Simone White's debut album is a delightful treat.
The moment that "America In '54" comes on your
stereo, you'll think that Joni Mitchell has been
re-incarnated...Sincere is the perfect word for this
consistent first release. Appropriate for any
season, this will appeal to fans of classic
singer/songwriters, and also modern female artists
such as Cat Power." --liepaper.com--

"sensitive, strangely soulful, bizarre..." --Boog
City--
