Release Notes:

Everlast first broke onto the music scene in the
early-'90s as part of the Irish-American frat-boy
rappers of House Of Pain (who scored a monster hit
with "Jump Around"). He launched a solo career after
the outfit split in the middle of the decade. Doing
a complete stylistic about-face, Everlast reinvented
himself as a rock-rap everyman, merging the lyrical
folk-rock tales of Bob Dylan and Neil Young with
trip-hop beats and finding success on his own,
scoring one of the biggest modern rock hits of the
1990s with "What It's Like."

"Thanks to Roses are Black, look for Austin Collins to be the next Texas artist

Texas Music Times Review

"The man with one of the most distinctive and unique voices in all of Americana
music has truly taken his art to the next level with his new release Roses are
Black. Austin Collins has proven on this sophomore record that he is one of the
most talented songwriters and performers in Texas and Americana music. The
record is, in a word … fantastic."

Put It In Your Face Review

"…Austin Collins is still doing it the right way, making roots-rook sound the
way it is supposed to." (02/27/08)

Captain's Dead Review

"It's a great chill out, drinkin' on the back/front porch in the middle of a
summer day kinda record." (04/29/08)

Fine Line Live Review

"…gritty, thoughtful, instrumentally driven album, chock full of
thought-provoking lyrics and pleasing melodies." (02/29/08)

Dallas Observer Review

"Produced by Will Johnson, the album is not nearly as pessimistic as the title
might suggest and is a godsend for those craving the golden alt-country days of
Slobberbone and Uncle Tupelo." (04/06/08)

Lone Star Music Magazine Review

"Roses are Black bracingly gives Austin Collins fans what they have patiently
been awaiting… It is the true grit of his songwriting and the intensity behind
his voice that leaves me listening in awe throughout the entire album."
(February/March '08)

Waldo's Views Review

"This is Austin's sophmore album and he has truely taken it to the next level.
Austin has proven to be a great songwriter and one of the most under-rated in
Texas." (04/01/08)
