The Elvin Bishop Group's self-titled debut from 1969, their 1970 sophomore effort Feel It! and their third longplayer, 1972's Rock My Soul, are just what Doctor Feelgood ordered from the guitar whiz who'd cut his teeth jamming with Chicago legends Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Little Walter. Includes the bonus track 'Sit And Wonder' (previously unreleased)."

Part: 1 : Muddy waters - the muddy waters woodstock album
Muddy Waters - The Muddy Waters Woodstock Album FLAC (tracks+cue+log+covers) | 287 Mb | RS Released: 1995 (Recorded: 1975) | Label: Chess / MCA (MCD 9359) | Genre: Blues "Of all the post-Fathers Sons attempts at updating Muddys sound in collaboration with younger white musicians, this album worked best because they let Muddy be himself, producing music that compared favorably to his concerts of the period, which were wonderful. His final album for Chess (recorded at Levon Helms Woodstock studio, not in Chicago), with Helm and fellow Band-member Garth Hudson teaming up with Muddys touring band, it was a rocking (in the bluesy sense) soulful swansong to the label where he got his start. Muddy covers some songs he knew back when (including Louis Jordans Caldonia and Let The Good Times Roll), plays some slide, and generally has a great time on this Grammy-winning album. This record got lost in the shuffle between the collapse of Chess Records and the revival of Muddys career ! under the auspices of Johnny Winter, and was forgotten until 1995. The CD contains one previously unreleased number, Fox Squirrel. - Bruce Eder (AMG)"

Herbie Mann - Just Wailin' (1958)MP3 | 320kbps | Covers Scans | RS.com | 78mbGenre: Jazz / bop, crossover jazz This recording emphasizes (although does not stick exclusively to) the blues. The sextet has impressive players (flutist Herbie Mann, Charlie Rouse on tenor, guitarist Kenny Burrell, pianist Mal Waldron, bassist George Joyner and drummer Art Taylor) and the material (originals by Waldron, Burrell and Calvin Massey in addition to a brief "Jumpin' With Symphony Sid") is reasonably challenging but the musicians never really come together as a group. The straightahead jam session has its strong moments and, as long as one keeps their expectations low, the music will be enjoyable despite the lack of major sparks.

Elvin Bishop - Let It Flow (1974) Blues | MP3 256 KBPS | 82 MB Publisher: One Way "For his fourth album, Elvin Bishop organized a new backup group and switched to Capricorn Records. Capricorn was known as the standard bearer of the Southern rock movement—the Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, etc.—and Bishop was able to emphasize the country/blues aspects of his persona and his music in the move from Marin County, California, to Macon, Georgia. The guest artists included the Allmans' Dickey Betts, Marshall Tucker's Toy Caldwell, Charlie Daniels, and Sly Stone, and Bishop turned in one of his best sets of songs, including "Travelin' Shoes" (with its Allmans-like twin lead guitar work), which became his first charting single, just as the album was his first to make the Top 100 LPs."

The session presented here took place in Stockholm in 1974, and features Boyd on piano and vocals performing original blues numbers backed by young Swedish players (and one American, Ed Thigpen, on drums), and while things don't have the powerful edge of a classic Chicago Chess Records session, it's close, and there is a charmi! ngly loose and fluid feel working here, one that is perfect for the kind of easy, almost elegant blues that was Boyd's stock in trade. Things get off to a great start with the opener, "Lovesick Soul," and pretty much stay at the level through the set, with the impressive "Tell the Truth," the bubbling "Dedicated to My Baby" (an alternate version is added as a bonus track), and the refreshingly arranged "Zip Code" (which allows Boyd to cut loose on piano a little bit) being among the clear highlights. At his best, Boyd delivered a kind of light, airy, and transcendent version of the blues, one that featured as much hope as misery, and this set is a perfect example of his unique approach. - iSteve Leggett (AMG)/i/tdtd"/td/tr/table
